Sigma 120-300/2,8 EX OS

I have this lens (Canon mount) and after 3 years the OS doesn't work in either mode (1 or 2). This lens model was available for about 1 year when it was replaced by the 120-300/2.8 in Sports line (same optics, Sigma USB dock, focus limiter, better construction).

A friend who has the Nikon version had trouble with AF in much less time.

I'd like to know if people here have either version and if the OS problem is a common on, getting it fixed will it be solved or should it return after some time ?

A lot of times when something fails regularly, manufacturers will make improvements during the life cycle of the product and when you get it repaired it gets those improvements. There are no guarantees though and all you can do is get it fixed and hope it doesn't happen again.
