Every time I go on a photo trip I "curse" the large size of the charger for my 1D MkIV batteries. I found something a little more compact on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/MicroMall-TM-Capacity-Battery-Compatible/dp/B00HPSQ0AO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414379699&sr=8-1&keywords=lp-e4+charger

Anybody out there have any experience with this or anything similar?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bruce:

Hopefully you have seen this thread:

and the horror tale it relates.

While preparing for an upcoming shoot in CA, I realized that the LP-E4 batteries for my venerable 1D Mark IV might fail and that, to be safe,, I had better order replacements while still available.  So I ordered a new LP-E4N battery and the LC-E4N charger provided for the 1DX.  This charger is compatible with the older LP-E4 and I have confirmed that it works OK.

Although this is an expensive solution, it is relatively minor compared to the projected overall cost of my trip.  In view of Steve Cirone's experience, I would not trust a 3rd-party charger, particularly one costing only $18.  Caveat emptor!
