I did a comparison between the 7D, 7dmk2 and 1dmkiv using the files from imaging resource.

I use the 1dmkiv so I compared it and I am happy with the results especially when you scale the file up to match the res of the 7Dmk2 and that still does not take into account the added crop factor you would have in the field, the difference narrows even more between the mk2 and 1d when you remove color noise but I left it in the sample to show the RAW results.

Looking at the results I see know reason why people should not be able to get professional level photos!
