Thanks for posting this! For me, the tilt screen, 24.3MP, WiFi, and separate video and still control screens are great features. I know many don't care about video, but I like the availability of it when desired. Just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it. The tilt screen is a valued feature on my Sonys and I'm glad Nikon put it on this one.

The worst kept secret has finally gone public...

D750:
  • Tilt the screen, including a change in the diaphragm in the live view mode, Wi-Fi, and D610
  • Size: 5.5 "x 4.4" x 3.1 "(139.7 x 111.76 x 78.74mm)
  • Weight: 1 lb 10.5 oz (751.26g)
  • 2,430 megapixel FX CMOS sensor specifications
  • EXPEED 4 Image Processor
  • 1080p 24/25/30/50 / 60p
  • Recording ISO, shutter speed, and aperture manually control
  • Uncompressed HDMI (8-bit 4: 2: 2)
  • Flat profile picture
  • ISO 100-12,800 (Lo 1 is ISO 50 plus (?), Hi 1 and 2 up to ISO 51,200)
  • 91K RGB metering, center-weighted metering / Spot metering / highlights weighted metering
  • Advanced Scene Recognition System
  • Group area AF
  • 6.5 fps at full resolution
  • Built-in Wi-Fi
And also a 20mm f/1.8 prime lens that looks interesting if the corners are any good.

Finally a SB-500 compact flash.

hmmm…I see D750 and at first want to think successor to D700 (got to remind myself don't be fooled by the Nikon naming conventions). Definitely some improvements over the D610, but really I see the build and I would better call this a D620 :). -dj

The tilting screen means that it isn't in the same family as the D610 which is why it wasn't called the D620. If you look at the low end DX cameras you'll see a model at the low end, a model with tilt screen in the middle and a high end model. Nikon has now managed to do the exact same thing in FX cameras.

The new 20 f1.8 lens does look interesting too. I have been waiting for an upgrade of the old 20/2.8 as it was pretty poor on most cameras. I see it is at about the same price as the recent upgraded 28/1.8 and it is a great lens, so here is hoping. It would be a good option as a landscape lens if it is decent across the frame. Small and light and easy to pack.

So Nikon have a high-end FX body, a large MP FX body, a low end FX body, a retro FX body and now another FX body? Still no D300 replacement?

This new autofocus system with better low light capability (theoretically)is worth watching. Built in Wifi at last. But Canon 7D mark II is coming & if those rumored specification appear correct then Nikon will get his comfortable cushion removed.

Not if the 20.2 MP sensor in the 7DII is anything like the 20.2 MP sensor in the 70D...

I expect canon would upgrade on sensor part. But being a Nikon user I earnestly want 7D II as a good replacement of current 7D & you know why.

Lets not turn this into a 7D Mk II thread. No such product has been announced and when it does, it deserves it's own thread.

Does anyone know if the 750 shares the VF with 610 or the improved 810?

Mike here is a quote from the feature/spec list at dpreview.

The D750's viewfinder specification is identical to that of the D810 - 100% coverage and 0.7X magnification. The 3/4 rubber eye-cup is a minor point of differentiation - Nikon's high-end DSLRs (D810 and above) offer a circular eyepiece, with a built-in viewfinder blind.

While I am confused about where this camera fits into Nikon's grand scheme for their FX DSLR business, it provides a very compelling alternative to Canon's 5DIII. There may be plenty of "noise" about the upcoming 7DII being the best DSLR in the APS-C/DX category but I see Canon losing significant ground in the "full frame"/FX arena. I at least expected something to match Nikon's higher pixel models as well as the fabled 7D replacement.

Still, my attention is directed towards Panasonic's upcoming m43 offerings.

Cheers,

I can't find any info on the buffer. It's likely that it's been kept small to go along with the lack of AF-ON button, slower flash synch speed, no gain in frame rate with the vertical grip, use of SD cards and the inclusion of an AA filter.  Other than 24mp, I'm not sure how this is a big improvement over my D300. Does anyone know what the multiple exposure capabilities are?

So far, I cannot find the user's manual.

Based on the video I think Nikon is confused too on it's positioning and they keep saying great for B-roll video over and over - like they just discovered B-roll terminology and decided that this is where they can position the camera.  It is by no means a D700 replacement - it's kid of a D610, D5300, D800 hybrid.

Thom Hogan, as usual, says it like it is.  He calls the Nikon FX line a jumbled mish mash with nor clarity from Nikon why you would buy one over another, especially when looking at the D610, D750, and Df.   I am absolutely loving his rant this morning and couldn't agree more about the D750 and the lack of a D300 replacement:

David I read yesterday on one of the sites that the buffer was 12. Can not remember where.
