Cool!

Some of these savings are huge... or at least more in line with the actual value that the lens presents.

Nice to see one company reflect the changing dollar vs. yen reality.

What, no price drop on the 200-400 f4? That's the one I am aiming for.

Probably because it is still quite new and selling very well.

I hope for you they drop the price. The lens is amazing!

The prices need to drop a lot more, at least in the US. Legalized price fixing has squashed competition.

Sounds like the demand is there. No need to drop the price then :)

They are all doing it.  It is not the retailer, it is the manufacturer.  The manufacturer will stop shipping stock to a retailer that goes below their set price.  So the retailers are forced to sell at or above the manufacturers set price.  For example a Canadian retailer was selling the Canon 500 f/4 version II for around $7500 with USA warrabty; Canon's MSRP is over $11,000.  Canon told them to stop (according to reports on the web).  All legal.

I hear you. I am selling my pristine 600 MkII and now have to lower my asking price. Bummer.

There are no used copies of either the 200-400 or the 600 anywhere. Guess I will have to buy it new after I find a buyer for my 600.

The price for a UK sourced 200-400 Canon has come down to approximately £8700!

Maybe a bit of Bizarro world going on here but just checked a Canadian retailer known for having the lowest prices on camera gear in Canada and the Canon 500 f4 II is now selling for $10,449.00 Cdn!!  A huge price increase from when I bought it a year ago at $8,600..

This lens had been selling for around $8,600 Cdn for the longest time. Maybe too many US customers were buying the lens from Canada and US retailers were complaining :-)   At least I see the US price for the same lens has finally dropped.  Maybe other Canadian retailers tired of price-matching this one retailer complained to Canon.

What was it earlier?

Maybe there is hope for us here in the US after all.
