We have lots of dragon flies cruising our garden but I don't shoot them much. Perhaps its their wariness to a close approach despite my long lens and that they usually perch on something lame and uninteresting. I did get lucky with what I think is a Halloween Penant one evening. Had to use the high ISO dealing with windy conditions but I'm pretty pleased with the finished product. What a beautiful image, I love everything about this Bill!  Exquisite detail and lovely composition with sweet soft light.

Well done, a pleasure to view.  8)

Excellent shot here, lovely pose and background. Relatively high ISO still looks good as well.

I like how you got the plane of focus on the most important part - the head, upper thorax, legs and front wings. Added to a great comp and this is a terrific dragonfly image.

Very nice Bill, well placed DOF and plenty of fine detail, nice even light. I find a 200mm a bit short for many dragonflies, though they do vary in skittishness and I have taken shots with a 12-40mm lens on micro 4/3 with the subject 50mm +/- from the front element.
