Captured on a night trek in the Borneo Rainforest. The ‘nose’ is actually an extended mouth for these plant feeders to suck the sap from plants and trees. It was originally believed that lantern bugs are able to produce light, similar to glow worms, but their wing patterns merely reflect light, making it look as if are glowing at night. They certainly have an astonishing and memorable appearance.
