Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas.
1/320 sec at f/8, ISO 200, Nikon D7100, 300mm f/2.8 lens.
I've tried to identify the exact species, but have been unsuccessful.  Perhaps someone might know.

A nice shot of this little intrepid explorer - I think you have done well to get both perch and subject nicely sharp throughout, which is no mean feat considering those spines

Nice capture - the cactus spines add a lot. Can't help with the ID, but you could try posting at bugguide.net as an ID request.
