I started a series documenting the germination of kale I am planting as a fall salad crop.
These seeds are quite tiny, about the same as mustard seed, and are simply placed on top of the soil, not pushed into it. After four days of watering they begin to sprout. Here we see the root coming out of the seed and seeking ground. For scale, that root is about as thick as a straight pin. Len Romanick
