Thanks Tom. It was not amused and kept trying to go to shade. I had to keep bending the leaf and plant and... until the length of the body was essentially parallel to the lens glass to get any DOF. I am pleased I got this image at all. All of the rest were head or tail focused not both except  this one and then it took off. I did the low angle to look into the insect instead of the top view. Now that you complimented it  I can say it was worth  it. I was happy to see so much detail in the eye...working with just a 60 mm lens and existing light. I got as close as the lens would focus.

Hope you saw the larger image....

Thanks Matthew.  I guess I got lucky as this was the insect's  choice of perch. It was where I spotted it and I only manipulated the angles for light and background by bending it and it not flying off in the process. I do like the hairiness of the sunflower leaf  stem and that V where the leaf stem attached to the main stem.
