Meleageria daphnis (female)

Pyli, Prespa Lakes, extreme north-west Greece, July 2015
Altitude: 898 metres

Nikon D800E / 200f4micro
ISO 100 1/13 f/16, MLU, tripod

One of my favourite european blues.  Pretty exotic from a UK perspective (not a native species here!)

Taken on a morning where I was at first cursing my luck since it was overcast and rain was threatening.  But I found a spot with a profusing of butterflies - a small roadside area with over 30 species present (imagine more than half of the UK species in one small place all at once...), and found some nice individuals perched nicely waiting for some warmth.

Thanks for looking!

Excellent capture. I like the comp and the slight angle of the grass perch...the subtle indication of more grass in the BG is also very nice.
AND you managed to keep the focus across the entire plane of the butterfly.
Nicely done.

Very pretty - love the pose on the delicate grass stem and the excellent details.

Hi

A lovely shot of this sweet little fellow - and all species seem absence from my local area this year, I get exciting seeing a house fly nowadays

All the best
