I hadn't posted an underwater image for a while so I thought I would post this one.   This is a siphlonurus nymph.    This one soon will hatch into a mayfly.    This bug looks nondescript in the viewfinder but I like the gills on the side and the tails.   The water was quite fast in this location.

These bugs live in vegetation and when startled, they swim like a small minnow.   They hatch en mass in late May and June in my area.

Thank you for looking!

The gills and tails are really interesting - an excellent find, and a nice image.

Excellent illustration of how well their camouflage works Kevin, not long now before they hatch and set off the feeding frenzy along the water!

This is really nice! Easy to forget that a lot of flying insects start their lives fully aquatic! Love how you captured such intricate details!
