One from the archive, which I don't believe I've shown here before - taken back in April 2013, on the Greek island of Samos.  These will be flowering again soon, will be sad not to be able to see them at least this year.

Larger version here.

Here are my notes from the day:

'Livadaki Beach Track, Agia Paraskevi, north-east Samos
16/04/13
The first plant with flowers open out of hundreds seen in bud.  Very windy on the coast today, so used plamp to stablize the flower stalk a little (with a blade of grass in the jaws wrapped around the stem), and waited patiently for the stem to stop vibrating...

Getting the white balance right with these red, pink, and purple-coloured orchids is tricky; petals "cherry-red".'

Many thanks for looking,

Lovely bloom and image, love the creamy background and the way the buds are braided together.

Hi

A lovely shot of this dainty looking bloom - and one that I doubt I will ever see in the wild let alone this year (LOL)

Thanks for the view

All the best
Matthew

I too like the braid of flowers and the different stages of the buds.
