Butterfly from Mindo Butterfly Farm

While at Bellavista we went down to Mindo to see the orchid garden, butterfly farm and importantly the chocolate factory where we tasted every stage from the pulp around the beans to the finished product.

Don't know what the species is and I don't have any references with me.

Excellent detail, composition, and perch. Love it.
Hard to ID - the patterns make it part of one of those big mimetic rings of tropical butterflies. I've got one chart with similar wing patterns in Heliconiiae, Ithomiinae, and other groups.

Another stunning butterfly! Sharpness and DOF are all very good. Just wish for a better perch.

nice image chris...
the ithominae are so difficult to identify .... so many similar species....
the images from www.neotropicalbutterflies.com can work as a basis , but i think that data base is not from equador, but probably some are found there also....
