I planted some of these in a wet area of my yard several years ago.The official name is Ludwigia alternifolia or Bushy waterprimrose.They come up late in summer and have pretty yellow flowers which give rise to these amazingly sculptural seed pods in the fall.They are native to Eastern US in wetland areas.They are said to be host to a sphinx moth caterpillar which i have yet to see.The seeds are on the leaf below.This is not the leaf of this plant but only used to provide a background
