Nice shot. Looks to me like a wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi).

btw, I wouldn't be so unkind about the camera you were using ;-)

But wikipedia says wasp spider is an European species? And it doesn't look exactly the same

Nice image, nicely detailed. I think your spider is Banded Argiope (Argiope trifasciata), Argiope bruennichi isn't usually found in North America.
