As a herpetologist, one of my favorite things about macro photography is being able to humanize many of my subjects.
I have spent many months over the course of many years surveying Guyana's rainforests for their reptiles and amphibians, a group of animals that tend to be under appreciated and frequently vilified. I found this sub-adult Amazon Horned frog (Ceratophrys cornuta) last summer while on a night hike in the rainforests in central Guyana. After capturing numerous images of this frog in its habitat with my wide angle lens, I decided to swap to my macro lens to get a bit more up close and personal, and to highlight their characteristic "horns." Hope you like it! Andrew Snyder
