....Skunk cabbage that is.   This is a plant that grows in marshy places in my area.   My understanding is that it produces a chemical reaction that allows it to warm and break through the snow.

I apologize if this blurs a little bit between flora and landscape.   I attempted to capture this plant in a variety of ways to isolate it.  Ultimately the wide shots were the only ones that worked.

Thanks for looking!

Cool wide angle perspective - skunk cabbage can poke out during late fall and winter in some spots. Almost like a rhino horn - the scaly foreground foliage adds a lot.

Hi

I like it – I’d admit I would probably opt for a more panoramic presentation feeling that the upper image area does not really add anything to the overall impression crafted – but perhaps that’s just me, and overall I think this is a good strong and somewhat intriguing look

All the best
Matthew

I could never have figured this out unless I read your description. That is really something. The leaves really ad to the picture.

Very dramatic view of this emerging 'skunk' Kevin! Love the perspective.

Hi Steve:

The scaly plants are a type of liverwort that lives along springs and small creeks.

Thanks for the comment!
