Please view in shadowbox. IC1396, also known as the Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a large faint emission nebula complex found within the constellation of Cepheus. There are many small dark nebula scattered across it's face. It is estimated to be at about 2,400 light years from earth and is an area of active star formation. Chris White
