As announced yesterday, here is the re-processed version. The main difference is the sky, which now doesn't compete with the glowing Halfdome for attention anymore, and also lost the unnatural looking green areas. The foreground has more detail and is a bit brighter.

All in all it's a lot closer to what I actually saw than the first version is.

I think you've got it!  This is definitely nicer. Print that big and frame it!

I like this color balance much better. Very dramatic lighting on the dome.

This is crazy cool! Great job on the reprocessing, it's so much more expressive.

I went back to see the original, as I had previously missed it, and as the others have commented this version is much nicer. This must have been quite a treat to witness this in person. I'm sure it was over in minutes, or seconds even! Well done.

I didn't stop the time, but It certainly didn't last long. I shot the same spectacle the next evening from the Glacier Point area. First with the 21mm to get the whole environment which had a few more distant peaks aglow, and then I switched to the 50mm for a more intimate portrait. By the time the 50mm was installed, only the upper half of Halfdome was still glowing.
