Thousand Island Lake sits in the Ansel Adams Wilderness between Mts. Banner and Ritter in the heart of the Eastern Sierra. The area is a destination for many backpackers but I never have felt crowded there. Early Morning is one of the best times to be there as the sun slowly lights up the setting in shades or yellow, orange, red and gold. A wilderness named after Ansel Adams has to be nearly perfect -- and it is.
