Kirkufell - Iceland
D810, 28mm, ISO 64, f/13, 2s

Kirkjufell as seen from Kirkjufellsfoss is one of west Iceland's most iconic shots and many absolutely stunning but very similar photos, compositionally, have been taken there.  While I enjoy those photos, and taking them, I am always looking for something a bit different.  During the NSN North and West Iceland workshop that I led with Johann Oli Hilmarsson in May/June I tried to get something a bit different by getting as close to the falls as possible.

Stunningly beautiful. If anyone can get a different take on a location- its you!

The whole scene is wonderful, but I especially love the view through the water curtains to the rocks behind, just magical.

By opening up the shadows on the left you've certainly shifted the focus of the image.

The slight detail in the water is very nice and adds a bit of texture to the falls. The distant mountain peak is a perfect ending for your eye and who wouldn't enjoy that splash of cyan in the water.

Fantastic colours and an "almost" unique composition. It is possible to shoot from even further behind the falls. Very wet though.

I like all the vertical layers as you go back to the mountain.

Super shot. The vivid blues in the water really do it for me.

I love this view. It is very different from all the rest of them that I have seen.

Nice EJ! Even the water there is blue! Nice shutter speed, comp and a dramatic sky to tie it all in.
