Woohoo... clear skies finally!  A couple nights ago I had the clearest and darkest skies I have had since mid April.  When you are always itching to get out and photograph the night sky you really begin to appreciate how infrequently the nights are truly clear, especially during summer up here in the North-East US.  Makes me want to move to the desert!

I was planning on shooting the region around the star of Sadr, however the air was so clear I decided to focus on the challenging and faint object called the Veil Nebula Complex.  As the remnant of a supernova (five to ten thousand years ago), this is a truly unique deep space object, and one that I could just stare at for a long time taking it in.  I hope that I did it justice!

If you would like to see some higher resolution images, and some crops of the objects found within this image you can visit my blog here:

A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

So cool. I'm gonna look for this at next opportunity. Few realize how much work goes into post-processing these celestial images. Your post does give some idea, it ain't easy!

But, a great image. Congrats!
