The image was taken from the parking lot looking down into the valley. I used a 300mm lens to isolate interesting sections of the valley floor. This is also the base image I used to create a bit of art work in Photo&Digital Art

Wonderful image James. Well composed.  I find my eye just curious to look around the image at all the detail and patterns.

Great abstraction and wonderful work in P&DA. Having never been there, I still don't know what this is-what proportions are we looking at?

Beautiful abstract -- I really like the added texture of the PD&A version.

For those of you who wish a more detailed description of Dante's View,do a Google search-there is plenty of information available. Basically, you are looking at the salt flats, which stretch as far as the eye can see.The atmospheric conditions were very poor, thus a grand view of the valley floor was not doable. The 300mm lens allowed me to extract isolate sections of the salt deposits and the surrounding landscape. The white is salt and the brown is the soil, this produces the patterns. Thanks for the interest,in the image and the wonders of Death Valley.

It really takes the eye of the photographer to see and make this picture. Very inspiring.

I haven't been to Death Valley in at least seven years because I couldn't find interesting subjects anymore in that place. After seeing this image I marked my calendar for the Labor Day weekend.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

Make sure you take a long lens, the parking lot sits on top of a mountain. I found that the dehaze  function in PS saved the day with my set of images. Enjoy!!
