I wanted the background to be just that, soft without anything that can draw attention, and the piece of driftwood to be in focus as much as possible. So I took the first exposure at f/2.8 and the second one at f/11 and combined the two.

Mattole Beach near Petrolia, Calif.

A7, 100/2 ZE @ f/2.8 and 11
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

You certainly got what you set out to achieve with lovely detail in that sub bleached driftwood. Nicely done - and now I want to see more of what is going on in that interesting background vista!

I really like this Jens!
Great concept and I like how the driftwood is put into context by leading into the background.
Do you have just a bit more room on the right side available?
