haha, good name, is the distortion the shaft of light at the bottom, like is the shaft coming towards you?

This is a beautiful scene and photo let down by what looks to be poor post processing. I think the processing lets down what could be a gorgeous image. The repeating pattern at the bottom looks like a Photoshop creation and the contrast in the shaft of light also looks like a weird HDR artifact. If this were to be reprocessed properly it could be a truly be a gorgeous image. As is, especially the light shaft, looks fake. Sorry for being so harsh but I photograph these slots a lot and that's just not at all what it looks like.

The processing is interesting, the detail compression allows us to see these chambers in a different way, but in places it is maybe too much (the key would be to use a mask and be selective where you want that effect). I like how you have brought out the surprise colours.
