Great Falls of the Potomac National Park, Virginia
Fujifilm X-E1 200mm f/16 1.5 sec

Great Falls isn't far from Washington, D.C. Going there at sunrise or just before sunset means smaller crowds (at sunrise you might have a couple of other people in the park).  There are three overlooks on the Virginia side.  I like the second one.  There are seemingly endless shot possibilities and usually I wind up isolating parts of the overall scene.  This is also a place where most shots are horizontal -- including mine -- but there are times to "break the rules" and this composition just begged me to do that as it was one I hadn't tried in the past.

I really like this. It's quite different from most Great Falls photos out there.

I agree with E.J. on about this perspective. I really like the sharpness of the scene and the exposure on the water.

Beautiful waterfall, nicely composed with the water running through the frame.

Excellent composition -- good choice on exposure time too.

The compression from the long lens illustrates the power of the water here.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.
