The title refers both to the place and how I felt when climbing up here before sunrise! Some deep powder and an early start made progress slow, plus leaving my gloves at the cottage made the whole panoramic process chilly!

This is a 15 shot pano, covering roughly 180 degrees. Click the image for a larger view

We had a wonderful 4 days on Skye - the advantage of living so close is that we can pick the weather forecast and be virtually assured good conditions. can't wait to run our January 2016 Workshop on the island and take 3 clients on a creative journey around the island - check the website link below for full details.

It's nice to see this often photographed location in different conditions. Great light and clouds. The lower left corner is unfortunate imho.

Hey Alister! Don't know if it's just because I usually don't like large wide field panos like this, but this one isn't doing too much for me. The balance feels quite off with the towering peak to the right so close to the top of the frame, as well as the sun being in the middle. I also don't like the rocks in the lower left. The colors are fantastic, and the scenery looks amazing, but I'd personally just like to see a well composed single image of this scene.

Love the sky and the location Alister. As others have said it is nice to see this location photographed in slight different conditions. I really like the sky and the textures, however the left hand 1/3rd of the composition in my own personal opinion takes away from the image.

Sadly the group that went on the Phase One trip to Skye did not make the hike up. I was disappointed by that. And this image illustrates why although the addition of snow makes this much better than anything we could have hoped to have, not to mention the early morning hike which these types of trips don't tend to do. Beautiful shot.

When Marsel, Chris and Pete all don't like the left hand side - that's a sign! :-)

I consider the rocks in the lower left a very important element in this composition. It is the third point of interest, complementing and balancing the sunrise and peaks to the right. Without it the eye would run off the edge there and the image's overall impact be weakened.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

Superb colours, great timing! Your difficult climb paid off with a stunning viewpoint. Nicely blended pano. Did you consider focus stack on the far left frame?

Yeah! I left my gloves at the cottage once!
