Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 300f2.8is II, Canon 1.4x TC III, f4, ISO 1600, 25 seconds, Cropped to 25% of Frame, 60 exposures aligned manually with PS and final edits with PS and LR.  Tracking with sky-watcher mount.  25 minutes of total exposure

Please view in shadowbox.

I enjoyed clear skies again two nights ago and made a second attempt at the Orion and surrounding nebulas.  Armed with more images to stack (60 instead of 14) I ended up with a lot more detail and less noise (better signal to noise).

Shot North is to the left.

I tried a new crop and a fresh attempt at editing.  What do you think of this one?

Just totally brilliant - am is complete awe of shots like this - I'd love to learn how to do this! We get some good dark skies up her in the North West.

Stunning.

Wow! Thank you everyone for your encouragement. Sure is a blast to get into something new. Now I spend all my days looking for the next clear night on the weather forecast!

Just awesome Chris! Keep up the good work! Looks like you'll have to wait a couple of days to shoot these again!

Beautiful! My only suggestion, and it is made out of ignorance of any astrophotography, is that I find some of the stars a little dull, as if the highlights have been pulled back. For example, the bright star just to the right of the nebula ... its bright white center has been turned relatively gray.

Very nice Chris, some good detail there. You do need to be careful processing astro shots, this one the blacks are clipped, it is normal to set the BG to somewhere around 5 or 6 at the darkest. You can see the histogram crammed up against the LHS. This will show up some of the fainter extensions as well. I'm no expert at the steps, but there are plenty of guides around of how to approach this, including some on Roger's site.

Thanks for your comments Chris. My first image was even more clipped in the blacks.  Still learning how to make the most of the files and have a TON to learn.
