I took this one yesterday morning not far from home here in the west of Scotland. A heavy snow shower had just passed through and I waited until it started to dump on the mountain before making the image.

The choice of shutter speed was determined by the strong wind blowing the tree about - the combination of the shortish TV and waiting for a slight break allowed for a reasonably clean top edge.

I am liking the colour cast and the long exposure effect on the water. The comp is uncomfortable for me. I like to crop the image just those first couple of rocks, this also gives a lovely format - much stronger.

It's supposed to be uncomfortable :-) But I do take your point, as a print the bottom would go.

Cool shot. The tree dusted with snow would make a nice shot too. It was worth waiting for the snow's effect on the mountain.

Great conceptual image. I can almost fell a dialog between the tree and the mountain.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

Hi Alister, really simple and powerful image. The composition is superb, though perhaps just a touch too tight all around for my own tastes. Love the shades of blue you captured here as well as the streaks of windblown water. The gap in the clouds really mimics the shape of the tree very nicely. A nice image, for sure.

This is why I so appreciate different views. After it was suggested to crop I saw that it really did make it a bit more profound. But it is lovely as is. Either way.... I can visualize a huge print uncropped.
