Before heading up to Ball Pass, I photographed the pre-dawn from a meadow seconds from my campsite.
4 images blended for focus and dynamic range.

Is the blade of grass cutting across the water too distracting?

Very majestic. After that reaction, I did notice the grass and thought to myself that I wish that wasn't there. It's right at the 1/3 line, which I think is why it stands out like it does.  I do wish the blade of grass were not there.

Very interesting mountain. Colors may be just a bit flat compared to what you usually see in landscape photos these days but it works well with the environmental conditions you were presented with.

I did notice that blade of grass right away and definitely wish it wasn't there. Bummer! The scene itself is nicely portrayed, although I do wish for some more light or other interest. It must have been amazing camping in this area.

The background and their light is very nice. Yes, the blade grass over the water is a bit distracting

Thanks for everyone's comments. I've cloned out some of the grass. Better?
