Here is the B&W rendition of the past post in color. Personally,I find most of the dune images present themselves best in B&W. The image itself is a blend of three exposures which allowed me to capture the highlights and shadow detail. In the color image, this produced the dark blue sky which I was not able to blend as well as I would have liked. A side note-no polarization was used in any of the dune images.

I like it much better... I might up the shadows and increase the texture...

I used SilverFX Pro2 it is a robust program and allows for user control. I also use onOne software with the B&W  plug-in,it has a number of good prsets which can give you a starting point for further adjustments.

Enjoy your trip,I've been there twice and each trip has produced different results. early morning and late afternoon are you best times, low sun and great texture.I might be there on Feb2 with a group but not sure yet. Have fun,it is a great place.

I like this, the textures and layers of light work nicely together, and your choice of composition is spot on.

Nice work James.
Although I do really like this, my preference is for the color version.
