Woke up this morning to go to work and decided it was worth being a few minutes late.  Nice clear skies are hard to come by in these parts!

Incredible detail!  I almost see more detail when the moon is not full!

Hello Chris,
Not only is this image very sharp, note the subtle color differences. Some of the maria show redder/browner basalts. These subtle color differences are usually not seen this well. Your result is probably a combination of good clear atmosphere and the camera's ability to distinguish such colors. Sweet!

I agree.  For some reason I have always only been drawn to a full moon (maybe the werewolf in me??) but I really find more beauty when there is less of it illuminated.  It feels more mysterious.  I think I'll try to spend more time shooting these other phases.

Thank you Roger.  I noticed those subtle colors as well, but did not know what caused them.  Thank you for the explanation.  The atmosphere was very clear and the moon almost directly overhead, so I had less to shoot through.

Very nice moonshot. I really like the detail at the day night interface.
