Shawnee National Forest

There was a break in the overcast sky just above the horizon where the sun was about to set. Once the sun sank into that space, it warmed up the entire scene for about three minutes to dash some warm tones across the landscape. That same scenario in about another week or so would make for a stunning image with the southern Illinois foliage cranked to 11.

The panoramic format complements the composition well.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

Cool sky and good light.
Best viewed against a dark b/g.
