Second Beach, Olympic National Park, Washington, USA
Canon 5DM3 | Canon 17-40mm f/4 | 1/5th | f/14 | ISO 250

Hi everyone,

This photograph was taken earlier this year in Washington's beautiful and rugged Olympic National Park. The giant sea stacks along this coastline are such photogenic features. I just love they way they catch the day's last light.

I just posted a blog entry today about the making of this image as well as some thoughts about being present while photographing.
Click here if you'd like to check it out.

Best of luck,

Whadup Jess. Nailed the comp on this one. I like the way the clouds perfectly mirror the sweep of the rushing water in the foreground. Good separation between the sea stacks as well. Overall, you did the best that could be done, I think, but this one is let down just a bit by the light. I read your blog post, and know that this image is about so much more than the light, but those are my thoughts from an outsider's perspective :D

Great composition. The retreating water sucks me right into the scene.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.
