On a hunch I ventured out to the Superstition Mountains late Friday afternoon in search of monsoonal activity. While preoccupied shooting the Elvis Chapel I noticed a haboob (intense dust storm) approaching from the south. It was traveling at such a clip that I barely had time to locate a place and set up before it totally engulfed the entire front range of the Superstitions. Quite dramatic.
I love to wander the desert Southwest in search of inspiration.

I want to capture one of these so bad, but they are pretty much non-existent in northern NM. Arizona seems to have the market cornered on them! That's not a bad thing! A nice dramatic scene to witness.

beautiful shot, love the drama. Maybe a tad bit too warm, I would experiment with cooling it a touch. ALso a B&W would work well I think.

This is a fantastic image of a truly dynamic weather system. My wife and I were caught in one of these many years ago,not a pleasant event and the rental car didn't fair all that well.

Yes it is dramatic! Good job getting the dust, clouds and the unengulfed area.
