These two mountain ridges were photographed in late May from Germany's highest mountain: the Zugspitze, Bavaria.

Hope you enjoy. Best, Joerg

Spectacular view Joerg --- I would have guessed the elevation to be higher than the actual 9,718 ft (2,962 m). I assume that you took a cable car to the top?

I really like this! Might be good in color too given the right light.

Thank you both for the kind feedback!

Gary: the tree line in the European Alps is much lower than here in the (western) US. Confused me at the beginning quite a bit as well... And yes, ascent was via cable car. The alternatives are mountaineering along some of the ridges depicted or a 8-10 hour hike for "tourists" as someone described it.

E.J.: Lighting up there is a challenge because the first/last cable car are well after/before best lighting conditions. One can overnight at the summit but as far as I know that hut is only for mountaineers. The other problem is that the ride with the cable car is 50+ Euros... So, not something to do very often.

Best, Joerg
