Zion National Park, Utah

Photographs of Zion National Park often focus on the beautiful riparian corridor created by the Virgin River and other notable creeks within the park. Sometimes the fact that it is a desert park that averages only 14 inches of precipitation (mostly snow) each year is lost. I thought this glimpse into the arid side of the park was fitting.

A very attractive composition with beautiful color, as Edward mentioned. I especially like the cactus in the foreground, and the glowing foliage at the center -- overall a very painterly effect.

Pleasing foreground and nice warm colors. I'd prefer that tree to not be there though, even though the leaves are beautifully colored. I don't like the tree being cut on the left and blocking the view on the lines of the mountain in the background. A slightly lower viewpoint with less midground and closer on the foreground would work better for me. Hope that makes sense.

The only thing I would like to see different in this image is more of everything.

Very nicely composed. I would much rather see an original image like this from Zion instead of the stale, done to death icons. Thanks for sharing.

One of my favorite subject in Zion. I like the combination of the green cactus with the yellow trees.

Really like the cactus f/g subject.
I do find that the left side tree steals some attention....so, perhaps a comp without it would strengthen this.

Hi Judd ,Let me start by saying that i like your image , But i dabble in Large format a little bit , And this type of subject just is a favourite with LF shooters in the USA ,  .But i like the composition  and tree on left ?? well hard to see how you could have balanced better without cloning etc.Cheers Garyedit done(Withdrew a comment after a reassment)
