I managed to drag myself out of bed at 3am to have a session photographing the lunar eclipse. I took far too many shots but decided to montage three taken over 75 mins. Nikon D800 300mm f4 with 1.4x TC

Hi Clive

Very nice! You got good color. I was out too, but had trouble with focus in the red stage. It was a special evening, wasn't it?

Yes, it was a truly magical sight - sadly in the UK it was 3am!

I found I had to manual focus a few test shots before I got it right. You sort of assume that infinity focus will work but no.

Mirror lock made a noticeable difference too.

Great to have some time back on the PADA forum. It seems to be going strong still.

Hi Clive. Great to have you back!  Don't be a stranger!

Yeah, I didn't do my homework. Mirror lock up and Manual.  I'm too stuck  on shooting birds I guess.
We were lucky here- eclipse started at 9 PM. Didn't stay for the full cycle though-got pretty cold.

I really like this view of the three different phases. Your images are sharp and have nice color too.
