When the Skies Were Dark with Birds

Really, a straight shot, but I posted it here because the birds are not really the subject of note, being indistinct. This is a part of a flock of Red-winged Blackbirds at Bosque del Apache. It reminds me of a jigsaw puzzle.
Nikon D700, Nikon 500f4, 1.4TC, f5.5@1/2000 second.

Probably wasn't too noisey!
I like the way the BG looks like an oil painting. And then it takes a few seconds to figure out the birds.
Very nice.
