A Golden Eagle at the Crane Ponds at Bosque. I never could tell what it caught, but it looked like a piece of wood to me. They were fairly common at Bosque in the '90s, but I rarely see them now.
Image was adjusted in LR and Windows.
All C&C welcome.

Cool action with the talons and the grass flying.

Nice almost silhouette style. Did you change the colors, or is it just in shadow. Nice deep blues contrasting with the background.

Thanks for the comments, Cynthia and Jerry!
Cynthia, this was a large crop from the original which was shot at 2:00pm in harsh light. It was taken with a Nikon D200 with a Nikon 500f4, 1.4TC, f4@1640 sec. If I had my D700 (purchased later) I would have cranked up the ISO to 1200 or so to stop the motion (mostly mine, Probably!!!) Here is a JPEG from the original and a crop from the original with no changes so you can see the color difference on the RAW.

Great action shot -- maybe the wood hue matches a vole...
