I used Topaz Impression to get a sketch look then blended it with the original, plus a few more tweaks, and painted over it with a crosshatch brush in Photoshop. Method from a tutorial, "Quick pencil drawing in Photoshop" by Thomas Churchwell on You Tube.

Thanks for telling us so much about your process, Jerry-always appreciated. I like the results very much, especially viewed from a little distance where the crosshatches blend a bit.

Beautiful vintage appearance that suits the subject perfectly -- love it!

You are welcome. Painting on a mask can be done with all sorts of brushes to reveal what is below.  It does not have to be sketch-like. I saw one today were the artist used a leaf shape brush to show some of the under-layer.

Clicking on this shows it beautifully as the crosshatch pattern isn't so evident (as Cindy noted). A beauty Jerry!

Thanks. Most of my work is around 12 x 16 inches to 16 x 20 inches. So when downsized for the web some detail is lost.
On the other hand, sometimes an image that looks like a painting at full size looks photo realistic at a small size :(
