Hunting Spot

A Great Gray Owl returns to a spot to find prey.
Digitally hand painted my photo using Corel Painter.

That IS a wild looking pose! Nicely done. Perhaps a slight crop, though, to focus closer on the owl?

I know about the crop, I spent most of my time doing the owl. Although not obvious, those white divots in the snow are where it had dove to get mice and the dark smear is its shadow. That is why the title is "Hunting Spot," to help understand what is going on. I should have painted a mouse.  I do not know if it was successful 4 times or it tried 4 times for the same mouse :)

Hmm- that does change the picture , so to speak.  I guess  it is not so obvious to the observer in this rendition what those spots are as they are abstracted a bit. Yeah! Put in that mouse!  ;)

Love it as presented. Great job with the eyes too. I just saw an exhibit put on by the BBC here at our museum, and the promising new talent ( 18 - 26 years old) had action shots where the wildlife/subject is relatively small in the frame, but still tells a great story.
