Snowy Owl from last year (we've had a few already this year too!0, American crow, and local river scene-thought they'd make a nice combination. I'm thinking a vertical crop with just the owl would work too, or just leave out the crow....,  not sure which I prefer.

Beautiful winter scene Cindy -- that's a fine snowy. I think a vertical with the just the snowy would look great.

I'm with Gary on this one Cindy, a vertical would look great and as second choice just kidnap the crow and leave the bg as is with that lovely snowy! The fresh snow adds so much to a scene.

I really like your idea - but something just does not mesh for me - maybe owl is to big - did you try it with smaller owl maybe with head not sticking up in sky. I too like the idea of a vertical

Crow not needed. Maybe soften the edges of the owl. I think the lighting of the owl is different than the BG so it does not quite mesh. Perhaps burn the highlights on the owl, then add tint and or texture to the whole composite to help it blend in.

The snowy looks great in the scene. I think if you had more room the crow would work, but it looks a little crowded in there:)
