This young Minnesota whitetail deer was leaving from having a drink from a pool left by the river from floods this summer. Photo was originally blocked in using autopainting in Corel Painter, then I hand painted over the top of it  with Corel Painter. I'm just guessing, but 80-90 % of what you see is by hand and the rest is the autopainted underpainting showing through. Sometimes the autopainting saves time, and gives ideas on how to improve it. Other times its faster to do the blocking in by hand.

Great painting Jerry -- lots to look at here. I especially like the leaves -- handpainting them must have taken been a bit tedious!

Lovely scene, Jerry-I like your hand painting. Before you know it, you'll be doing the whole thing from scratch! You seem to have a flair for color and design-very harmonious.

Pretty soft tones and lovely high stepping pose with that dainty raised hoof! Lovely brushwork.
