The Brute is facing us. I wish they would fight away from the brush so it would be easier to get a decent shot. This was a real fight and I thought the photo this is based on  showed how chaotic it was.  Hand painted over a photo digitally using Corel Painter.

Woodland Rumble by Jerry Barnett 2014

Whitetail bucks grunting and pawing.
Ears back and down, fur bristling.
Muscles rippling and straining.
Leaves and sticks flying.
Branches cracking.
Antlers rattling.
Blur of action.
Wow!

Wow indeed-very dynamic, Jerry. One of your better buck shots. Like your poem too. Colors and technique great! Did the "brute" outweigh the other buck?

It was only a little heavier, but more experienced.

The fight is so intense its hard to make out one buck from the other - they have almost merged into one! Clicking in the darker surround really shows this battle at its best!

I think I recognize these deer Jerry ;-)
Your rendition of the interaction between the two is very unique.
I love the impressionistic nature of your processing and composition.

bruce
