Beautiful monarch at a pretty spot for lunch which looks good in the lightbox. I would be tempted to nudge the saturation up slightly to make the flower a bit more lively.

Beautifully composed-so glad to see Monarchs as they are so rare here now. I think I'd lighten up the stem a bit-get rid of the blue-ish sidelights.

The closely related monarch (same genus) would have a black band across the orange under the upper three white dots near the tip of the top wing. The queen does not have the black band. The other side of the wing is not as close between the two. I hear the Viceroy butterfly down there imitates the Queen too, like it does the Monarch further north. We have not had many monarchs or viceroys up here the last couple of years.
