This a digitally painted photo from Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs, CO. The technique is similiar to the "Wading Buck" posted earlier. I used a digital worn and dirty brush to crisscross the strokes. It also varied the colors among the brush hairs automatically based on the reference photo.

Very convincing painting Jerry -- the rock looks great, but I think I like the way the greens were handled even better.

This was right at sunrise and the direct rays of the sun were on the rocks and not on the foreground yet. The rocks really glow for a few minutes then.
