Keeping Dry

I was out looking for deer in velvet in a local park and met this guy on a foot bridge. I moved over, but he did not trust me and returned to the woods behind him. He lost the tip of his ear several years ago. His antlers have been close to the same size and shape the last 3 years.
This whitetail buck will be loosing his velvet in a week or two.

I used auto painting in Corel Painter to block in the underpainting and then painted over most of it to add back detail.

A slightly surreal image Jerry --- my first reaction on seeing this was that it must be a composite. :)

I wish! This is about as close as I have ever got to him. This is with the 70-200mm lens at 200mm. I have got some better shots when I lugged the 500mm set up.
