Yesterday was a very gray morning. The glare off the water was really bright from the gray in the sky.  Out of nowhere this lone Kite skims along the water for a drink. Out of reflex, I of course shot...not paying any attention to my settings. I blew out the image.

Thanks to Topaz B & W Filter and Nik Silver Efex-Wet Rocks I came up with this save.

Hope you enjoy my shooting blunder!

Really attractive image with an interesting action captured! This is one that has great potential for hand painting, as well.

Wow,great action. Fine as it is, I think it would also work with brighter whites particularly in the BG.

Good reflexes Kat --- I like the graphic quality. I like Jerry's suggestion, and I might also be tempted to add a sun in the upper left with a gold gradient!

Awesome shot. The B&W is wonderful here as is the square crop.
Reflection is great as are the water drops.
One of the most interesting shots of this species that I've seen.

Nice save! Like the water drops and the interesting pose- those alone would be worth saving. I wonder about using a bit of a noise filter on this and/or shadow-highlight or curves to increase the tonal values.

A very beautiful moment captured and very well done with the B&W treatment.
